Bitumen decanter is an insulated enclosed box type of unit for heating the bitumen drums. It is divided in two sections i.e. upper and lower section. The upper section has hot oil circulating coils and houses the drums to be heated for bitumen melting, and lower portion has reservoir tank for molten bitumen. For bitumen drums, there is entry gates in front side of the unit and exit gates on the rear side. Hydraulic lifters on the entry gates lift the drum upside down and load in the unit. Depending on the model of bitumen drum decanter, two to four rows, each row of 9 or 10 drums, can be melted in a batch.
